Danielle Ate the Sandwich - Things People Do

album cover

By Greta Cornett

Danielle Anderson has many sides. She is quirky, she is relatable, she is honest, she is talented, and she just released a bad ass album. Known affectionately as Danielle Ate the Sandwich, this singer/songwriter possesses one of the purest voices around and an uncanny ability to connect with a wide range of people.

The songs on the album are stripped down. Most are just ukulele and one vocal with a few harmonies here and there. She reminds us that sometimes the best things in life are simple. The lyrics are straightforward and heartfelt. They allow the listener a glimpse into what Danielle is thinking about and most everyone will find themselves either chuckling or contemplating at these musings.

With such an album, everyone will have a favorite song for a different reason. My personal favorite is “On the Planet Earth.” I love each chord she chooses, I love the rhythm changes, and I love the lyrics. The song speaks of a break up and all of the insecurities that surround it in an honest and eloquent way. I also really enjoyed “Goodbye Frankie.” It was sassy and funky with some awesome chord changes. “Handsome Girl” has the broadest appeal, and is a great gateway into Danielle’s quirky, musical world. The bottom line: Danielle Ate the Sandwich is amazing. This album really captures what she is doing. By the way, what she is doing is going places, so make sure to get your hands on a copy of this hot album.
